Sunlight heats the black chromed copper fin tubes behind glass inside the solar collector. Heat is transferred to a non-toxic anti-freeze solution (propylene glycol and water) that is pumped to a heat exchanger in the storage tank. The water in the tanks can be used for domestic and/or space heating.
