We tend to build our towns and cities along lakeshores, rivers and streams. As urban sprawl extends out from these waterways we keep building roads, houses, buildings
of all nature and function, parking lots, sidewalks etc. We make it so that rainwater that used to be absorbed in these areas, is now run to common storm drains. With this system we set up some environmental disadvantages. What we are putting on the lawn to
make the non-indigenous grass look better than the neighbors, the chemical spray to kill those nasty weeds, the animal bi-products from feeding them (poopies) (Don’t get me wrong I love animals, I have a cat but he uses the neighbors yard, my yards fine).
Most pollutants now entering our waterways (invisible to the naked eye) originate from home lawns and farms, both of which you can stop by what you do in your yard and by what you choose to buy (organic foods and products are grown without pesticide use). Another hidden cost of a grass lawn is the loss of land that was once home to native
plants and wildlife. Many homeowners are taking pride in removing their lawns and replacing them with native plants that naturally require no more water than what falls
from the sky. This allows for proper absorption instead of the rainwater run off going towards the storm drains and all the associated nasties that go with it.

If you ever look on the streets you will notice oil drops from cars and trucks (and my neighbors Harley), in Canada alone these oil droplets would add up to 1 Exxon Valdez oil spill/per year. We wonder why the waterways are polluted, in some of our rivers we
cannot even safely eat the fish.

The natural Aqua Fir that so many people rely on is under more and more demand to produce clean abundant water, should be under scrutiny. We have oil and gas companies drilling through the Aqua Fir, adding who knows what into this eco system. We have the new Geo Thermal systems changing the water temperatures, the same systems that are leaking there chemicals into this system.

We have a clean source falling right on our very heads, why shouldn’t we use it?
